OMAS EXTRA 557 OVERSIZE- 1946 PISTON FILLER

At the end of WWII, Omas introduced their first models with piston filling mechanism, which promised to be easier to use than the traditional plunger filling mechanism Omas had used since the 1930's for the Lucens and the Extra Lucens series.

The new line of piston fillers was called Extra and was identified by a model number which was 555 ( lady size), 556 ( senior size), 557 ( oversize). The line was pretty sucessful but it remained in production less than a couple of years as it was soon replaced by the more modern line of torpedo-shaped Extras which were introduced in 1948.

The range of colors for the 1946 piston fillers included black, arco bronze, arco gray, pearl gray and a few other extremely rare colors such as cappuccino celluloid and blue.

This Omas Extra piston filler  in black celluloid is a 557 oversize in excellent condition wth a nicely flexible Omas Extra 14 ct gold nib.
