OMAS EXTRA OGIVA GOLD FILLED CAP

At the end of WWII, Omas restyled the entire line of their pens to make them more modern an easier to use.

The traditional plunger filler used for the Lucens and Extra Lucens lines was abandoned in favor of the piston.

The design of the pens was reviewed, too and Omas chose a more aerodynamic shape for cylindrical pens, adopting the fashionable Ogiva style, while facetted pens were restyled giving them a lighter and more elegant look.

The new series were named 55X ( 555,556, 557) with the addition of the letter F  for the facetted lines ( 555/F, 556/F, 557/F). Before these lines were introduced, Omas marketed a series of similar pens named just EXTRA, following the tradition of using the word Extra for its pens.

While 1940's facetted  Extra piston fillers are  identical to their 55X/F counterparts, cylindrical Extra models are a bit fatter than the later 55X pens.

This pen is part of the short-lived line of Extra Piston fillers and it is a fantastic writer.

The nib is soft and very flexible and it is a pleasure to use.
