OMAS 72 SUPER SET - STERLING SILVER - 1970S

The 1970s were difficult years for all pen makers, especially in Italy. The market had dramatically shrunk because of the success of the ball pen and the massive presence of German low cost products, whose prices were very hard to to compete with, made Italian pens loose ground.

Then only option to survive was innovation and creativity. Aurora reacted with the introduction of the Hastil while Omas strived to manufacture a product which could compete on the market of medium/low cost writing instruments.

The result of this commitment was the Omas 72 Super, a cartridge filler with a modern design and a semi-hooded nib. This model is not part of the Omas Gotha, but it definitely represents and important chapter for the Bologna-based company as it helped the company to survive during the harsh 1970s.

The Omas 72 Super was manufactured in black resin  and with complete silver casing, which represented the top line of this model. The model has a section with a metal decoration which is reminiscent of a tie, which was probably designed to enrich the look of the pen.

This Omas 72 Super comes in a set with a ball point and in its original presentation box.
