OMAS 556/ BLACK FACETTED CELLULOID - GREAT NIB

Introduced in 1948, the Extra line of piston fillers was a revolutionary choice for Omas. For the first time since 1925, they abandoned the roller clip in favour of a slender straight clip. The new pens were offered with two designs:  ogiva-shaped and facetted. They were much more suitable to meet the taste of a demanding public who required a balance between functionality, beauty and design.

The ogival pens had a smooth and slender look, while the facetted models caught the light and resulted shiny and very charming.

Two types of nibs were used on the new line of piston fillers: Extra nibs with the heart-shaped vent-hole on the ogival pens and Extra Lucens nibs for the facetted models.

In most cases both types of nib offered unparalleled flexibility and responsiveness.

It is not by chance that these models are nowadays highly desirable for collectors, users and people who practice calligraphy.

This Omas 556/F is fitted with a very responsive and springy Omas Extra Lucens nib which is very pleasant to use.

The pen is in excellent condition but there is a tiny scratch exactly on the barrel engraving, as shown in the pictures.
