NETTUNO PENNA DI SICUREZZA TWIST FILLER - VERY RARE

Nettuno is one of the most ancient Italian brands.
The first registration documents referring to this brand found in the Bologna Chamber of Commerce dates back to 1916.
The original sketch for an advertizing postcard showing a Nettuno safety pen shows the date of 1911.
The company was founded in Bologna by Umberto Vecchietti with the help of his wife Ada Corazza Vecchietti.
Mr. Vecchietti's pens were called Nettuno to celebrate Bologna's symbol, the big Poseidon statue in Piazza Maggiore.
Nettuno products of the 1920s and 1930's are high quality writing instruments with a refined taste for elegance and style. A few models of the late 1930's/ early 1940's are reminiscent of Omas/Minerva models and for many years there has been a theory supporting the hypothesis that Nettuno pens were manufactured by Omas. That was just a misinterpretation.
Nettuno pens have an identity of their own and definitely represent one of the major Italian brands in terms of quality and style.
This very unusual twist filler is one of the earliest Nettuno products; it was probably produced in the first decade of the XX century, making it one of the earliest Italian automatic fillers. The originality of this pen is unique and has no comparison in the scenario of Italian pens of the time.
The design is reminiscent of Moore pens as well as of Waterman's sleeve fillers but this pens is a twist filler with a unique Z-shaped locking/unlocking mechanism.
The precious Art Nouveau engraving on the barrel enriches the black ebonite with elegance and good taste.
This pen is unused and in pristine condition.
It is fitted with its original 14 ct early Nettuno nib, fine and flexible.
This is really a museum piece.
