Established in Boston, Massachusetts, the Moore Pen Company was a prominent manufacturer of premium writing instruments. The company was founded in 1899 as the American Fountain Pen Company, a venture launched primarily to commercialize a novel black hard rubber safety pen. Marketed as "Moore's Non-Leakable Fountain Pen," this particular model achieved remarkable longevity, remaining in production for nearly three decades.

The Non-Leakable is actually a safety pen with a very efficient sealing system which guarantees reliable ink-tightness. Its design makes it recognisable and has gained the model immense popularity at the time. The model was manufactured in two lengths and in black and in mottled ebonite, the latter being much scarcer nowadays than the first.

This Moore Non-Leakable is a long version in mottled ebonite in excellent condition. The nib is very smooth and extremely flexible.
