THE IDEAL green and gold celluloid

The "The Ideal" denomination was widely used in Italy in the 1920s and 1930s; it was often coupled with the outline of a stylized globe, replicating Waterman's logo.

Waterman's advertising campaigns made the public very familiar with the image of the globe and with the word "Ideal"; for this reason a few Italian minor pen makers tried to exploit the fame and the appeal of the famous American company to make their pens easier to sell.

This pen is one of the many Italian "The Ideal" pens: the imprint on the barrel is on two lines and reads "The Ideal - Fountain Pen  Italy" with the outline of a large globe  in tge middle.

This pen is an oversize button filler and it  has a very simple and basic design, with a plain bandless cap.

The material is a fantastic mixture of light and dark greens  with swirls of gold and ocher tones.

The pen is fitted with a 14 ct gold Globus nib which is very flexible and pleasant to use.
