WATERMAN RIPPLE NR. 5 - PURPLE NIB AND CAP BAND

Waterman Ripple Nr 7 pens were introduced in 1927. The line comprised a number of pens with a colored cap band corresponding to a specific nib, identified by the same color of the band. The colors where red, purple, blue, black, yellow, green, gray and pink.

This is the chart of writing modes corresponding to each color:

Red - Standard (medium flex)

Green - Rigid
Pink - Flexible Fine
Purple - Stiff Fine
Yellow - Rounded (ball tip)

Brown - Fine
Blue - Blunt (stub)

Grey - Oblique
Black - Flexible Medium

Along with the line of Nr. 7 whose size corresponds to a Waterman 55, Waterman introduced a smaller line of pens based on the same color principle  but with a flared cap top. These smaller pens were named Ripple Nr. 5 and were dedicated to the female and junior market.

This Waterman Ripple Nr. 5 has a purple cap band and a purple nib (stiff F). It is in very good condition with only some traces of time and use on the lever where the outline of the globe is partially worn out.
