WATERMAN 55 RIPPLE ebonite

In 1927, while most American pen makers were adopting celluloid and and started marketing colorful pens with the new material, Waterman decided to stick to ebonite and introduced a series of pen in ripple ebonite. The ripple pattern was achieved using a special extrusion technique to manufacture the material which gave it a typical pattern of contrasting waves.
The first series of pens to be manufactured with this material was the line of nr. 7s and 5s. Once adopted, ripple ebonite was soon used for all the models of the time from the small 51 to the big 58 and for safety fillers as well.
This Waterman 55 in ripple ebonite is in excellent condition and it is a great wrtier. The pen is excellent condition and has a beautiful and very pleasant nib.
There is a personalization on the barrel, with a name engraved on it.
