VISCONTI RAGTIME ACCADEMIA ITALIANA - RARE PROTOTYPE

In 1996 the Italian Collectors' Club Italian Academy of Fountain Pens commissioned Visconti with the production of a special pen to be reserved to its own members only. The result was a beautiful Ragtime piston filler manufactured in a special color (emerald green, blue with purple shades) of celluloid which was never again used by Visconti.

The cap top was decorated with the Club's logo and the words: Accademia Italiana.

This Ragtime (which was named Leonardo da Vinci), could not be bought in shops and was available to club members only. Each pen was numbered with the club member's registration number, thus being absolutely personal.

The pens were fitted with 14 ct gold nibs.

A few prototypes were manufactured before the pens were made available; the prototypes were not numbered  and were fitted with gold plated steel nibs.

This pen is one of these very few prototypes.

The original packaging of the Club pens comprised a Visconti box, a small glass container with ink pellets and a  hand written  warranty parchment with the owner's name and registration number.

Prototypes came to the market without box.
