OMAS GENTLEMEN TRANSITIONAL MODEL

We are used to distinguishing between Omas Gentlemen/Gentleman in celluloid and Omas in resin paying attention to the spelling of the name, where GentlemEn indicates celluloid and pre 1980s production while GentlemAn indicates resin and post 1980s models. Along with the distinction between GentlemAn and GentlemEn, we also check the nib on the pens.

Newer models in resin have Omas nibs with the outline of the arrow and a round venthole, while older nibs have a trapezoidal vent hole.

Well, that's not true!

Unfortunately for us there are a number of transitional Gentlemen's around, which have the old style spelling and the old style nib but are manufactured in resin.

I have known this piece of information for a while, but I was not sure about it since nibs came and go and mispelling is pretty normal in Italy, so I thought of bunch of "wrongly-spelt" barrel engravings with replaced nibs.

This pen actually confirms that early Gentlemen in resin were part of the the standard production and they were fitted with the old style precious Extra Lucens nibs which had been used since the 1960s on  Gentlemen celluloid models.

This pen comes from a shop and it has never been used,  so there is no doubt that it is original in every detail.

The Extra Lucens nib writes like a dream and actually you do not feel the difference between this resin Gentlemen  and its celluloid counterpart, as the heart of the pen is the nib.
