OMAS EXTRA 556/S WITH GOLD FILLED CAP

In 1948 Omas restyled its line of pens and introduced a more modern ogival design, which was flanked by a facetted model; this choice complied with the tradition of having cylindrical and facetted lines of pens (which were called  Lucens  and Extra Lucens in the past).

The new models were identified with the word "Extra";  a number was used to identify the size: 555 for lady, 556 for standard and 557 for oversize. The suffix "S" was used for cylindrical pens ( S= semplice - simple) while "F" was used for facetted pens ( F= faccettato - facetted).

These models were manufactured in black, gray and tortoise brown celluloid. Facetted models are also known in marbled green and gray lined arco-style celluloid.

The line of cylindrical pens comprised models with gold filled cap, too. These models were originally produced with threaded caps  which later on  became slip-on caps.

This Omas 556/S is a beautiful example of the line with gold filled screw-on cap.

The pen is in fantastic condition and it is fitted with a superb Omas Extra very performing nib.
