OMAS Emozioni di Carnevale - Prototype

The Carnival Emotion limited edition was issued in 2003. The pen was designed by Gianluca Malaguti and it was meant to celebrate the Republic of Venice evoking the fascination of its Mardi Gras Carnival.

The pen is rich with symbolic meaning. The lacquered white body is decorated with black swirls, to evoke the movement of life and writing as well as the alternation of night and day.

The cap top is decorated with a finish of oriental inspiration and the clip recalls the famous prow of a Venetian  Gondola. Finally, the nib is decorated with a star and the moon, to express te veiled melancholy of the Carnival, so joyous and lively but yet bound to finish soon.

The choice of a satin gold finish recalls the many gold decoration on Venetian buildings.

The limited edition comprised 1458 pieces; the packaging comprised the pen and a handcrafted black and white mask.

This pen is a prototype, it is unused and it has no box.
