ERIDANO BY STILUS CELLULOID BUTTON FILLER

The Eridano brand is part of the Pecco Brothers' production (Turin). The Pecco Company was based in Turin and was one of the most active Italian pen companies from the 1920's till the 1950's.

Their main brand was Stilus, one of  the most qualitative and beautiful Italian brands ever.

The company also manufactured a number of minor and  less famous brands aimed at the medium-priced share of the market.

Eridano pens are among these minor brands.

The name Eridano is connected to an old mythological story and refers to the river Po, in northern Italy.

The story is about Fetonte, Apollo's son, who drove the sun cart too near to the earth setting everything on fire. Zeus launched a thunderbolt to stop the crazy cart's race and killed Fetonte. The cart fell into the fresh waters of the Eridano river in northern Italy ( the Po river ) which extinguished the fires. Fetonte's sisters shed thousands of tears for their dead brothers and were transformed into silvery poplars.

Thus the Eridano name has a strong evocative power and it is deeply connected with the mythological background of the Po river and to the actual landscape of the Padana valley.

This Eridano pen is a button filler in a beautiful marbled brown celluloid with red inserts. The pen is fitted with its original Eridano 14 ct gold nib.

The nib is very smooth and writes beautifully with a medium tip.
