EARLY WATERMAN 15 PSF - BLACK CHASED EBONITE

Waterman introduced its first lever fillers in 1915 and they soon became market leaders.

The original numbering system used till 1917  indicated the type of pen in the tens columns and the nib size in the units column . 1X stood for lever filler with an "X" nib size.

The model number in this case was followed by the PSF acronym which meant "Pocket Self Filler", where "pocket" also indicated that the pen had a threaded cap.

In 1917 the numbering system was changed and the digit in the tens column used to indicate the lever filling mechanism became 5 instead of 1.

This Waterman 15 belongs to the early production years, as shown also by the early threads on the barrel.

It is fitted with a Nr. 5 gold Waterman nib which is a very good writer with a limited flexibility which makes it suitable for everyday use.

The pen is a clipless model which came with a nice French Waterman mobile clip.
