Big Ben pens' creation and development are connected to Niels Benzon's activity: he was the official distributor  for Wahl Eversharp in Danemark since the early 1920s.

The Benzon Trading Company started manufacturing its own models in the early 1930s and used a number of brand names, among which Big Ben, Scribent and Axo..

The company was quite successful in Danemark and exported its products in other countries as well.
