Waterman developed a wide variety of overlays for all its ebonite models. Aluminium, solid gold, solid silver, rolled gold , abalone and mother of pearl were used to enrich te pens and make them look more precious and desirable.

The style of decorations followed the fashion of the times  including rich Art Nouveau floral designs and geometric patterns.

Sheraton overlays are part of the fashion  for  essential lines. The name Sheraton refers to a neoclassical design style in furniture from around 1800 (inaugurated by designer Thomas Sheraton), featuring straight lines, simplicity and clean appearance. The Sheraton overlay was used by Waterman both in the gold filled version and in solid green gold. 

This Waterman 52 1/2 has a gold filled Sheraton design and it is in excellent condition.

It sports a superb EF nib which is extremely flexible and responsive.
