VISCONTI CLASSIC SET OF TWO - STEEL NIB AND GLASS NIB

Visconti entered the pen market  in 1989 with a line of piston fillers called Classic. These were very simple converter fillers whose design was reminiscent of the classical Parker Duofold model with flat top cap and barrel, ball-ended clip and steel, gold plated vintage nibs ( mostly Tropen). The Classic  was meant to bring back tradition into life and was manufactured in celluloid.

The nibs used on  the very early Visconti  Classic pens  were new old stock Tropen in gold plated steel. Later on Visconti developed its own two tone steel nibs and added glass nibs to the options. Glass nibs meant to pay homage to the past: they also came from stock of vintage glass nibs and were reminiscent of war years, when the use of metal in Italy was banned and many pen makers adopted glass nibs for their models.

The Classic lines is deeply connected with the Japanese Onish Seisakusho Pen Company, by Kyoshi Kato Kaburagi,  a famous pen maker who was dubbed as “the father of pens”. Most Visconti pens of these early years were in fact manufactured directly by the Japanese company and then assembled and finished in Italy or with the collaboration of the Kaweco company in Germany.

Gutberlet’s  Kaweco company was at the time one of the major pen makers on commission in Europe and  Visconti as well as other Italian brands of the time made reference to it for their pens.

These two Visconti Classic in black and pearl celluloid are both unused. They are offered as a set but can be had separately, too. The box belongs to the model with  steel nib.

Prices are: 250 for a single pen or 430 for the set.
