PARKER DUOFOLD BIG RED - RED EBONITE - STUB NIB

Parker introduced the first Duofold model as early as 1921. The model was actually a derivation of the Jack Knife line but it was manufactured in flashy cardinal red ebonite, which made it stand out in the scenario of fountain pens of the time. The pen was immediately dubbed as "the Big Red".

The very first models had a bandless cap and a very large imprint on the barrel. Later on, a raised cap band was added and the size of the imprint was reduced.

To follow the development of the model, please have a look at the scheme ( drawn from the publication  Stilomania - 1996) in the pictures.

In 1926, Parker introduced the first models in "permanite" (celluloid) and finally, pens became colorful and "unbreakable".

This Parker Duofold in red ebonite is part of the early production ad dates back to approx. 1924. It is in outstanding condition, with a perfect color and no damages.

It is fitted with a beautiful nib, which is definitely stiff (as all Parker nibs on this model are) with a stubbish tip.
