OMAS EXTRA LUCENS TORTOISE SET - EXCELLENT CONDITION
When wartime economy obliged pen makers in Italy to abandon gold and reduce the use of precious metal, Omas replaced the beautiful greek key cap band on its flagship models with three thin cap rings.
At the same time, gold nibs disappeared and Omas introduced Platiridio nibs, manufactured in a special patented alloy which was advertised as being "like gold, better than gold".
The were the only concessions Omas made to war economy. Omas' high productive standards were never lowered and the selection of beautiful celluloids remained a must for every model manufactured during those difficult years.
In many cases, once the conflict was over and the economy started moving again, wartime models were fitted again with gold nibs.
This beautiful Extra Lucens set in brown tortoise celluloid is an example of the combination of wartime finish and a beautiful two tone gold nib.
The nib is pleasant and nicely flexible.
The set is in excellent condition with only minimal traces of time and use.
