MONTBLANC GREAT MASTERS - PYTHON SPECIAL EDITION
The Montblanc Meisterstück Great Masters series is a highly prestigious, ongoing collection of luxury writing instruments launched by Montblanc in 2010 which celebrates legendary artistic traditions, historic manufacturing houses, and high-level artisanal crafts.
Unlike traditional collections that focus solely on historical or cultural figures, the Great Masters series is built on a collaborative concept: it pairs Montblanc's century-old pen-making heritage with the unique, highly specialized traditions of world-renowned artisanal houses and master crafts.
Each model creates a connection between the classic Meisterstück silhouette and materials or techniques native to another discipline—such as fine leatherwork, gunsmithing, porcelain, or automotive design.
Meissen Porcelain (2010): One of the earliest highlights in the wider "Masters for Meisterstück" framework. It integrates pure, white kaolin porcelain from Europe's oldest porcelain manufactory. The caps are uniquely hand-painted with Meissen’s globally recognized crossed blue swords logo.
L’Aubrac (2012): a collaboration with the legendary French knife makers, Forge de Laguiole. The pen is crafted from precious Grenadilla wood and decorated with small sterling silver rivets.
Firenze (2015): Focussed on the legendary leather traditions and tanning methods of Florence, this collection features a barrel tightly wrapped in hand-stitched, deeply grained caw leather complete with platinum or gold fittings that honor the city's architecture.
James Purdey & Sons (2018): This edition honors the legendary British gunmaker. The pen body is crafted from high-grade Caucasian walnut wood and features the distinct hand-engraved "checkering" pattern usually found on bespoke rifle stocks. It also includes a custom 18k gold nib and metal inlays mirroring Purdey's signature shooting star motif.
Exotic Leather (2019): this special edition uses exotic leathers such as alligator (black and blue) and python in red. The defining feature is the choice of red and black python leader encasing the barrel and the cap. Because it uses natural python skin, every single pen features a completely unique scale matrix and pattern layout. The leather undergoes an intensive tanning process to preserve the organic, supple texture of the scales while insuring it remains durable enough for regular handling.
Pirelli (2021): Celebrating the intricate craft of Pirelli's motorsport tire "gougers" (the artisans who hand-carve experimental tire treads). The body is finished in structural matte-black rubber embossed with historic tread patterns sourced directly from the Pirelli archives.
Ferrari Tailor Made Classica (2024 -2026): A tribute to Maranello's elite personalization program and 1950s/60s GT sports cars. The pen barrel and cap utilize rich sapeli wood offset by a sharp black lacquer strip and the iconic Cavallino Rampante (Prancing Horse). The platinum-coated cone and cap top are intricately patterned to simulate the physical grip of a vintage 250 GTO steering wheel.
This Montblanc Great Masters red Python is unused and still sealed with its complete packaging. The pen if fitted with an M nib.
