In 1948 Montblanc introduced the 24X line of piston fillers. Initially, only two sizes were manufactured, 244 and 246; the smallest size 242 was introduced later on.

These pens were addressed to the medium-price market and were designed to have a very large distribution.

They are beautiful and sturdy writing instruments. In the post-war years two new colors were added to the range and they were called "tigereye". Tigereye celluloid is actually a type of arco celluloid which was offered in gray and in brown. 

The line of 24X tigereye models represented an upgrade of the model which then became a top product which was extremely successful.

This Montblanc 246 in gray tiger-eye celluloid is in excellent condition and sports a very pleasant Nr. 6 semiflexible nib, grade M.
