In 1948 Montblanc restyled its lines of pens; the 13X models were discontinued (with the exception of 139 which was replaced in 1952) and  the line of 14Xs was introduced.

All the pens of the new line were manufactured in  black celluloid. Very soon black was flanked by a beautiful striped celluloid in two different tones of green ( light green with a "sage" shade and a deeper more intense green) and in striped  gray which were used for all the sizes. Dark green with black stripes also exist which was apparently used only for 146s.

Initially only sizes 142, 144 and 146 were produced in black and striped celluloid. The big 149 was introduced in 1952 and was manufactured in black celluloid only.

Early feeders on these models were flat with two back channels. Later feeders have a bumped back and a different design.

This Montblanc 142 in light green striped celluloid is in excellent condition with no  discoloration. The EF nib is very smooth and nicely flexible.
