ERCOLESSI LEVER FILLER WITH 18 K.R. KOSCA OVERLAY
The E.E. Ercolessi pen shop was one of the most ancient and famous pen shops in Milan. The brand owns its origins to Edgardo Ercolessi and his wife Elvira who opened their first shop in 1921 in Via Torino. Ever since the shop became a major reference shop and meeting point for pen lovers and collectors from all over the world for almost a century. A second shop was soon opened in the prestigious Corso Vittorio Emanuele. The Ercolessi name remained a symbol of high quality writing instruments till the early 2000s when unfortunately both shops were closed.
In the1920's and in the following decades Ercolessi used to have their own E.E. Ercolessi pens produced on commission by various pen makers. All their pens were marked with the company logo "E.E.E.", derived from the founders' initials and had their E.E. Ercolessi nibs, both in 14 ct gold and steel.
Edgardo Ercolessi was very active on the pen scenario from the1920's till the 1940s and developed collaboration activities with Armando Simoni (Omas), Eugenio Verga (Columbus) as well as with the Waterman representative for Italy and in the 1930s/ 1940s with Kosca and Radius, too.
A number of E.E. Ercolessi models were manufactured by Omas using Minerva models, with slight or minimal revision of the design. Many models were manufactured by Columbus as well. Most of the pens with overlay of the 1930s were produced by Kosca, the famous overlay workshop based in Milan.
Among the models with overlay manufactured by Kosca for Ercolessi, we can find Waterman models with typical Art Deco decoration (see here:https://www.tenpen.it/product/waterman-52-art-deco-overlay-kosca) and similar models which are 100% Kosca models (the difference is actually only in the lever and the nib, as the overlay is the same).
This beautiful Ercolessi lever filler is a Kosca product and it is fitted with a superb E.E. Ercolessi EF nib which writes like a dream.
The pen is in excellent condition with no damages and no dings. There are minimal traces of brassing on the lever.
