CONWAY STEWART 58 PINENEEDLE CELLULOID - STUB DURO NIB
Founded in 1905, Conway Stewart is one of the major British pen makers who remained on the market for many decades and marketed good quality pens. The company focussed mainly on tradition and reliability, working more on the selection of fancy materials and the search for robustness than on technical and aestethical innovation. Conway Stewart pens were designed to be reliable writing instruments with a good price-quality ratio and beautiful nibs.
The model 58 was introduced in the late 1940s as top of the range. Being a lever filler, it was somewhat out of fashion and apparently not suitable to compete with more sophisticated and technically advanced models of the time, nevertheless the wide selection of fanciful celluloids used for it, made the 58 still desirable and competitive. It is a sturdy and solid pen designed to last long and be a real workhorse.
This 58 in pineneedle celluloid is in excellent condition and very pleasant to write with. It is fitted with a generous Duro stub nib which is very smooth and offers a generous line.
