RARE PELIKAN 101N MILANO - GRAY BARREL - 585 NIB - EF

Italy has always been an extremely interesting market for Pelikan ever since the late 1930s. In the 1940s  Gunther Wagner created a branch in Milan to which parts and components were provided (S.A. Günther Wagner - prodotti Pelikan in Milan) for te production of lines of pens manufactured specifically for the Italian market.

These models, which are dubbed "Milano" are different from  standard German-made 100N models, which use an outer decorative sleeve wrapped over an inner transparent tube showing  a visible step near the ink window.  Milano models instead feature a direct two-piece barrel where the marbled decorative sleeve does not show any step and is even with the surface of the section.

Generally Milano models are fitted with nib showing  the "585" engraving.

This Pelikan 101N Milano with gray barrel has a very pleasant EF flexible nib marked "585" and shows the word "Milano" engraved on the cap, which makes it even more interesting from a collector's point of view.
