The Omas Extra Ogiva piston filler was introduced in 1948 and remained in production for only a short period.

Although it was an innovative model, it was soon replaced by the 55X series, which featured a very similar design but a more slender profile. The two lines—the Extra Ogiva and the 55X—are therefore closely related.

Omas produced the Extra Ogiva in three sizes: Lady, Standard, and Oversize. Even after the introduction of the 55X series, the Oversize Extra Ogiva, known as the 557, remained in production, with only limited variations in style and design.
