MONTBLANC AGATHA CHRISTIE VERMEIL - RARE WRITERS LIMITED EDITION

Montblanc's Writers series of limited edition was introduced in 1992 to honor legendary authors with the creation of pens themed to their lives and works. The series was inaugurated in 1992  with the first pen dedicated to Ernest Hemingway and continued through icons like Agatha Christie, Shakespeare, Dickens and many others.

The Agatha Christie was released in 1993 and it is the second model of the series. The pen is characterised by a beautiful snake clip, wrapped around the cap, which was inspired by vintage Montblanc clips of the 1920s. The snake is meant in this case to symbolize wisdom and alludes to the "creeping tension" in Agatha Christie's stories. The snake's eyes  are set with two rubies, which add a sense of mystery and tension to the design.

The model was manufactured in two versions:

Silver clip - 30,000 pieces (probably a lower number was manufactured) - snake's eyes are set with rubies: 4810 units

Vermeil Clip: 4810 units - snake's eyes are set with sapphires

A special edition was  created with a dragon-themed alternative to the snake-clipped Agatha Christie for the Asian market. This model, dubbed Imperial Dragon, exists both with a silver clip (5000 pieces), set with ruby eyes and a solid gold clip set with sapphire eyes (888 pieces).

This Agatha Christie with vermeil clip is in unused condition but it is without the original packaging. Nib grade is M.
