OMAS 556/S WITH GOLD FILLED OVERLAY - EXCELLENT - FLEXIBLE NIB

The Italian market has aways shown a peculiar interest for pens with a precious look. Starting in the 1920s through the late 1940s, safety pens and piston fillers with gold filled overlays were extremely successful. The range of overlays typical of the Italian scenario is unique and no other European country has ever had such a rich and articulated variety.
Like many other pen companies in the late 1940s /early 1950s, Omas offered models with gold filled overlay which could be the perfect gift for Confirmation or any important date for students and professionals. Omas' overlays of the late 40s/early 1950s are very simple and elegant, perfectly matching the taste of the time.
Omas' overlays can be found on most cylindrical models of this era, 555/s, 556/s and 361s. Examples of facetted or oversize models with overlay are nor known.
This Omas 556/s wears the typical overlay of the time, very simple with vertical guilloché lines. The overlay is in perfect condition, without brassed areas nor dings. The nib is beautifully flexible and very pleasant to use.
