WATERMAN 52 BLACK EBONITE - STUB NIB
The 5X line is definitely the most successful Waterman line of pens ever produced. It was introduced in the early 1920 and remained in production for less than 10 years with a huge number of pieces produced and marketed. The entire line, going from 51 to 58 (51 is the only odd number of the line which is otherwise based on even numbers: 52, 54, 54, 58) was manufactured not only in the USA but also in France and the UK, where the various models were characterized by specific features. British Waterman pens often sport metal trims in solid 9 ct gold, while French Waterman often have chrome colored cap bands and metal trims.
This beautiful Waterman 52 in black chased ebonite is a British product and has a 9 ct gold cap band. The pen is in excellent condition with no signs of oxidisation of the ebonite. The nib is a fantastic stub, which is generous and flexible.
