TIBALDI SAFETY PEN NR. 5 - VERY RARE -SUPERB CONDITION

Tibaldi's early production comprised a number of models in black ebonite which could be enriched with gold filled overlays. One of their earliest price lists includes eyedropper fillers, safety pens and a very rare model called Perfecta. 

The range of safety pens comprised models going from size 0 up to size 8 in long and short versions, following Montblanc's example. Early Tibaldi safety pens have a very "German " look. 

Their style and design will change in the course of time, acquiring clips and guillochè decoration of the ebonite.

All Tibaldi early pens are fitted with extremely beautiful 14 ct gold nibs, which are fantastic writers.

This Tibaldi safety pen is size 5 long; it is in excellent condition (I suppose it has never been inked) and has a very beautiful Tibaldi Nr. 5 very flexible nib with long tines. Odd numbers are extremely rare in the range of safety pens. In my Tibaldi book, in fact there is not a nr. 5 safety model, so this pen sort of fills a gap.

This pen came in a beautiful Tibaldi cardboard box I had never seen before. It adds an extra value to this very rare and highly collectible pen.
