in the early 1940s (1941/1942) Omas patented Permanio, a special metal alloy which was meant to replace gold for the production of nibs  during wartime. The Italian Government had in fact prohibited the use of gold for any kind of manufacts and the precious meta was needed by the state for the war effort.

Permanio nibs were advertised as good as gold or even better and they are actually very responsive and smooth nibs which can be very flexible too.

Permanio nibs were associated to chrome coloured metal trims for the same reason, to save gold for the state. For the same reason, cap finishes were simplified and the rich greek-key band was abolished  to be replaced by three cap rings.

This Omas Extra lever filler in facetted celluloid is a wartime product. The moss celluloid is in perfect condition with no damages nor discoloration. The Permanio nib is a smooth and pleasant writer, with a generous line and a good degree of flexibility.
