"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today.”

James Dean’s motto is engraved on the clip of this iconic Montblanc creation which is part of the Great Charatcters line. Every detail of this  special edition issued in 2018 has a very strong evocative power beginning with the color, an intense red, which recalls the color of Deans’ bomber jacket.

The design of the pen is reminiscent of the shape of the switchblade knife Dean wields in Rebel Without a Cause.

A few other movies are  evocated in the details of the pen such as  “The Giant”, which is recalled by the gun-shaped clip and “East of Eden”, which is recalled by the dollar bill engraved on the cap top.

The same evocative power can be found in the nib, too, which is decorated with a checkered racing flag, hinting at Dean’s passion for speed and racing.

The amount of details and references to Dean’s life, movies and death  in 1955 make this model extremely stimulating and fascinating.
