Introduced in 1948, the model Extra 556/s was part of the line of Extra piston fillers Omas introduced to rejuvenate its products in the post war years. The new models were ogiva-shaped and were offered in three sizes ( 557,556 and 555) and in a range of classic colors: gray pearl, tortoise (very rare nowadays) and black. The cappuccino celluloid was used for this model too but examples are mostly found in  the smaller lady sizes ( 555/s) and in the early Extra line, which preceded the 55X line and remained in production for a short while only.

This Omas 556/s is in excellent condition and is a perfect everyday writer. The nib is smooth and very flexible, offering a very pleasant line variation.
