OMAS EXTRA 361 STANDARD SIZE - BLACK FACETTED CELLULOID - BRASS DOTS
The model 361 was introduced in 1948 and underwent a number of variations during the following decade.
The first version had a screw cap and two white dots on the ebanite hood. It was a revolutionary model as the pen could be used from both sides to have either a flexible or a rigid nib. Later on the white dots ( which got stained by ink) were replaced with brass dots.
The line comprised four sizes: junior (or lady) in two versions, one of the two having a somewhat larger girth, standard and Oversize (marked B). Initially the colors were only three: jet black, arco gray and arco bronze
The Standard model is the same size as a 556/F while the oversize, which is extremely rare, was designed to be suitable for large hands.
The model was very innovative and it was widely advertised. One of the most famous ads for this model depicts a lady walking on a rope holding the pen in her hands to keep her balance. She is wearing a pair of shorts and the top of a bikini. The image Omas choose for this pen is very provocative and seems to suggest that this pen represents a break with tradition. The three words used for the slogan are: Beauty, Balance, Reliability as to highlight the main virtues of the pen.
This 361 is a black standard size with brass dots (second production line) in excellent condition.
