1950s RADIUS SUPERIOR GREEN ARCO CELLULOID - NOS

Among the latest Radius products there is a line of slender piston fillers which were manufactured in colourful celluloids and had beautiful spear shaped nibs. These pens, which were called "Superior" like their predecessors, were introduced in the late 1940s/early 1950s and were probably partially outfashioned from the very beginning. The market was in fact already oriented towards more modern designs, mostly with hooded nibs and very aerodynamic shapes (following the 51 trend, soon replicated by Aurora with the 88 and many other pen makers worldwide).
The lack of success of these models is confirmed by the fact that they are often found in pristine condition, boxed and unlinked as new old stock. The range of colors was pretty wide and comprised, among others: black, arco green arco blue, striped blue and marbled burgundy.
This Radius Superior in arco green celluloid is new old stock and comes with its complete packaging. It has a beautiful 14 ct flexible nib with F tip.
The box is stamped FIAT ( the Italian Turin-based automobile company). It was probably meant to be used as a promotional.
